ESIC hospital rid of rodent menace

LUDHIANA: Using eco-friendly techniques, a team from Panjab Agricultural University’s department of , hailed by Dr B K Babbar, has successfully created a cost-effective developed by Orion Organics Private Limited to treat active burrows around the kitchen area, canteen and residential colony of ESIC Model Hospital.

The hospital authorities informed that after single application of the rodenticide, the menace has been reduced to 60%.

During the second phase of treatment on June 13, Babbar and Dr Rakesh Kumar of Orion Organics applied the rodenticide for management of residual rodent population in the outdoors. The civil department of the hospital also rodent-proofed the hospital premises by fixing aluminium sheets, as per Babbar’s advice.

In the next phase, the application of plant-based non-poisonous anti-feedants and anti-fertility agents prepared by PAU zoology department will be done on aluminium sheets for rodent proofing. With the completion of these phases, the rodent population in ESIC hospital would be brought under control and would be managed by their health staff thereafter.
