ICCR Tvm brings students together one more time

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as uncertainty prevails over its closure, the regional office of Indian Council for Cultural Relations () brought together researchers and students once again as part of the International Day of Yoga on Thursday. The event was organised in association with the School of Santhi Yoga School.
This is one of the major events hosted by the centre after it received a communication from the ICCR headquarters, New Delhi, in May regarding closure of the regional office in the state capital and its subsequent and merger with Chennai office.

As per the communication, the procedures for the merger were to be completed within three months. Following this, , MP, had sought the intervention of external affairs minister to revoke the decision to close down the centre.

Officials associated with the office said the decision was put on hold. No further communication is learnt to have been received at the centre.

The regional centre, which was established in 1973, has been coordinating the ICCR’s activities in the state mainly with regard to international students and their welfare. tnn
