Longmont crash sends motorcyclist, passenger to hospital with moderate injuries

A crash at the intersection of 19th and Main streets Friday sent a motorcyclist and a passenger to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to Longmont police.

At about 1 p.m., a motorcyclist riding with a passenger south on Main Street was struck by a gray sedan turning left onto 19th Avenue, according to Longmont police Officer Colin Jessen.

The car had turned left when the motorcyclist was in the intersection, he said. Neither the motorcyclist nor the passenger were wearing helmets. Both were taken to Longmont United Hospital and suffered some head contusions.

The driver of the sedan was not injured. Police do not believe drugs, alcohol or speed was involved. The crash is still under investigation and no charges or tickets have been issued yet.
