He added that if the voice of an elected MLA on the issues relating to public can so brutally be snubbed , then what will be fate of an ordinary person in the state.

Slamming the “deteriorating Law and order” situation in Punjab, spokesman of AAP Punjab, Darshan Singh Shankar in a press release issued here on Friday alleged that the illegal mining was being carried out with impunity in all parts of Punjab by the unruly elements supported by the leaders of party in power and government machinery. He added that that MLAs from AAP were paying heavy price for raising voice against sand/gravel mafia and also facing false allegations and cases. Shankar added that earlier a few days back Sandoa had raised the illegal mining on this very site and government had to cancel the query, in spite of that illegal mining was continuing unabated and this time MLA went to the site where digging of sand was in progress using banned for mining poclain and JCB machines along media person. He added that that the goons of Sand Mafia abused, brutally attacked MLA and mercilessly beaten them up.

“Even tossed their turbans, which is the gross insult of religious signs of a Sikh. Few days back officers of forest department were attacked by mafia and now MLA and Gunman, under such situation the Captain Government have lost the moral right to continue”, said AAP leader. He also strongly criticised senior Akali leaders including Dr Daljit Singh Cheema for politicizing the issue by raising finger on victim MLA instead of attack on elected representative. He added that Dr Cheema being MLA from Ropar never raised voice against illegal sand mining in the area, which indicates his connivance in the illegal activity during their full tenure. Shankar said that such “cowardly” attacks will not succeed in silencing the voice of AAP against the various mafias running in state under the patronage of ruling party. He said that all the culprits were clearly seen on the videos gone viral on media. He demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits without twisting the issue through inquiry by government officers.
