Moment stolen van is deliberately driven at a pedestrian knocking him off his feet and flinging him into the air

This is the moment a stolen van deliberately drove at a pedestrian and sent him flying into the air.

The 29-year-old victim needed surgery for his injuries after the shocking broad daylight incident in Blackburn, Lancashire.

He was walking through the town with a woman when two men got out of a white Citroen Berlingo and assaulted him.

Police have released CCTV footage in a bid to track down the perpetrators in what they are describing as a ‘targeted attack‘.

The offenders then returned to the vehicle and ploughed into the man as they drove away.

The Berlingo has since been recovered and returned to its owner.

Detectives are now trying to identify the attackers or anyone who saw the van – registration number LB65 FMA – around the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Rubina Akoo, of Lancashire Police, said: ‘This was a targeted attack which happened in broad daylight.

‘The CCTV clearly shows the victim being thrown in the air and he suffered some nasty injuries which required surgery.

‘We would urge anyone who saw the incident or who has any information which may help to identify the attackers to get in touch.‘
