Shooting in Del Paso Heights leaves one dead, one injured

One person is dead and another injured after a shooting in Del Paso Heights Tuesday morning, according to Sacramento police.

Sacramento Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert shortly after midnight in the 3800 block of Dry Creek Road, a few blocks from Grant Union High School. Police also received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting victim in the area.

Officers found two adults with gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was unresponsive at the scene. Sacramento Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead.

Officers searched the area for witnesses and evidence. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, but no motive has been determined. No additional information was released.
